Richard Newland trains our summer jumper – Paddy The Hare. His stables are near Worcester. The stables are intentionally small, with space for only 12 horses. This ensures that each horse is given individual attention, and even our owners get individual and personal attention! Last season (2010-11) Richard’s horses won over £133,000 in prize-money and in season 2009-10 he won over £170,000. An excellent record for such a small string.
Despite the size of his stable his horses have competed on the biggest stages (Overstrand, winning the £50,000 Betfair Hurdle at Sandown a week after finishing a neck second in the Totesport Handicap Hurdle at Newbury) and the improvement in his horses is noticable. Burntoakboy was bought for £10,000 and improved to a mark of 140, lifting the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.
For the 2012 Richard has continued his excellent record with talented Theologist and Bellflower Boy in particular being spoken about as outstanding prospects.
